Dear

Welcome to Marist St Pats for 2013. As Wellington's playing-through club champions, MSP has an exciting year ahead with construction of a new artificial surface well underway at Evans Bay, new head coaches in Brendan Reidy and Ross Bond, and solid numbers and many new faces at pre-season trainings. One handy addition to the club's ranks is Hurricanes mid-fielder Reynold Lee-lo who has been allocated to MSP this season. The 96kg ex-Auckland Marist  and Counties player can play subject to his Hurricanes commitments.

Around the traps

Pre-season trainings are in full swing every Tuesday and Thursday at Evans Bay, starting at 6pm. If you know anyone thinking of playing, encourage them to come along... Our sympathies to club members who have recently suffered the loss of their loved ones. In particular, to Pines owner Tony O'Brien and family, including sons Ciaran and Liam, for the passing of father and grandfather, Joe O'Brien. Joe, 93, was heavily involved in rugby refereeing for many decades... and also to the family of stalwart Oriental Rongotai club member John Mears. Mourners gathered in their hundreds at the Ories clubrooms to farewell John, who died aged 58 from cancer.... MSP's juniors are gearing up for their season, beginning with registrations either in person from 5 March, or online - here's the details... Join the fun run/walk on 17 March organised by St Pat's College to fundraise for the new artificial turf... Teams coached by Paul 'Budgie' Jacobsen in the early 70s, which were among the first to win trophies for the newly-formed MSP, are planning a reunion in May. Check out the photos - yes, that is Budgie and other well known club identities, heavily camouflaged under long hair and facial growth.

Great ways to keep in touch with MSP!
