Easter Monday clash with OBU to open 2013 season

The premiers will open their 2013 club season with a home against Old Boys Uni on Easter Monday, 1 April.

MSP also started last season against OBU, a game in which they were well-beaten 15-19 despite easily winning their pre-season clash. However, the premiers recovered to come second in the Swindale Shield and to go on and win the Jubilee Cup.

The senior 1s, winners of the first-round Harper Lock Shield last year, also open their account against OBU, runners-up in the senior 1 grade last year.

With the first-round draw for the top three teams now released, other features include:

  • a round of Anzac Day games on Thursday 25 April, with the premiers drawn to play HOB Marist
  • three days later on Sunday 28 April, they'll take on Norths at Evans Bay
  • five of the team's 11 games are at home
  • the first round concludes on Saturday 1 June, and the Jubilee and Hardham Cup rounds start on 8 June
  • finals weekend will be on 3 and 4 August, with all representative players available for their clubs.
