It was a good day at the office for most of our teams, but particularly for our Premier Women and Presidents out in Porirua.
Our Premier Women kicked off the day on Jerry Collins Stadium taking on the competition leaders and perennial grade heavyweights Northern United. After scoring the first try they found themselves trailing at half time before strong second half saw them record a 31-31 draw. This is a great result against a quality side!
Later on the top fields of Porirua Park our Presidents contested the President's Cup - the grade version of the Ranfurly Shield - and came away 35-15 winners over Northern United!
Back in the city our Colts beat Hutt Old Boys Marist by 34-24 on Kilbirnie Park; our Premier 2 Men were leading OBU at half time but ran out of steam and ultimately fell by 20-44. The Internationals had a good win over OBU by 34-17.
On the Netball courts of ASB Sports Centre our team beat Kia Ora by 32-15.
In the Swindale Shield match on Evans Bay Park our Premier Men were far too strong for Avalon and recorded an 80-3 win. There were 12 tries scored, with Ryan Setefano and Willie Schutz each scoring a hat-trick. Andrew Wells was outstanding with the boot, kicking 10 of 11 conversions before he left the field.
