Big wins in second round for top sides

Our Premiers, Premier Reserves and Premier Women all recorded big wins in their second round matches this weekend.

At Maidstone Park it was a textbook 'game of two halves' for our Premiers. In the first half they were starved of possession with a high penalty count and a number of lineout turnovers. The few times we had quality ball, we made the most of it and entered the halftime break with a 12-11 lead.

The halftime oranges and coaches messages saw the team flip a switch with Hurricanes Billy Proctor and Fletcher Smith combining for a try two minutes into the half. It was all one way traffic from there as the Red Machine unleashed an onslaught, scoring another seven tries over the final 38 minutes to win the game 61-11.

Down the road our Premier Reserves visited Stokes Valley in a game that also kicked off at 2.45pm. The team bounced back from their first week loss with a comprehensive 72-7 victory.

Earlier in the day our Premier Women had their first run on Evans Bay Park for the season and beat Paremata-Plimmerton by 46-24.

In other results the Under 85s beat Poneke by 27-24, while the Internationals fell to Pare-Plim 17-34. The Colts match was cancelled.
