Our top two sides will be wearing big smiles for the rest of the long weekend following convincing victories over Wainuiomata at William Jones Park on Easter Saturday.
The Premier Reserves set the scene with a dominant performance, winning 79-0 and showing they will be a side to reckoned with in the Harper Lock Shield.
In the Swindale Shield match, the first half was an arm-wrestle between two sides looking evenly matched, a try to prop Meinrad Fitisemanu was the highlight for MSP with the score 10-7 at the break.
The halftime pep talk did wonders for the visitors, striking immediately after the break with New Zealand Under 20s centre Billy Proctor running almost untouched for 50 metres before sending the ball wide to Ryan Setefano for the try (video below).
This was just one of a number of big moments the 18-year old was involved with in the game - he is going to be a player to watch for at even higher levels in the very near future.
The Proctor to Setefano try gave the Red Machine a shot in the arm, going on to score another five tries in a clinical second half performance - ultimately winning 42-19.
With injuries affecting the squad, this performance showed there is great depth in the club and there are some exciting times ahead!
