Our Premier Reserves are through to the Ed Chaney Cup Final after beating Northern United in their semi final at Evans Bay Park today. They will play Oriental-Rongotai at Wellington Rugby's Finals Day at Petone Rec next Saturday.
On a sunny but blustery afternoon at Evans Bay the home side jumped out to an early lead and were looking comfortable at 17-0 before conceding a try right on half time.
Norths battled their way back into the game in the second half and narrowed the margin to 17-14 before a flurry of attack from the side in red. Second half tries to Jake Goodger, Jack Taulapapa and Naitoa Ah Kuoi secured the victory 32-14.
Our Colts were contesting their semi final simultaneously at Hutt Rec where they conceded an early deficit and round themselves down 0-19 early in the first half. They bravely battled their way back into the game in the second half to eventually take the lead 20-19 before a penalty at the death ended their grand final hopes, losing 20-22.
While the boys will be disappointed, they have had an outstanding season, losing only one game before this match and winning the first round Paris Memorial Trophy.
