Our Premier Reserves have taken out the Harper Lock Shield with a round to spare following a comprehensive victory over Johnsonville at Newlands Park tonight.
The side captained by Paul Churchman and coached by Andrew Robinson with Nic Fitisemanu and Jamie Parkinson have won 11 of 12 games and victory in this grade is a great indication of the depth in the club. Given the disruption of players moving up to the Premiers, this is an outstanding achievement. We will have full coverage when the side are presented the Shield next week.
Our Colts can hold their heads high after a strong performance in a losing effort against OBU. While the team will be disappointed that they could not capitalise on a wealth of first half territory and possession, they showed they were a very capable team and will be a force in the second round.
Later our Premiers had a field day at Helston Park (video below). The game featured a 40 minute injury delay and we hope the Johnsonville lock who was injured has a speedy recovery. On the field it was one way traffic with a number of our young players really stepping up.
On Friday night our Women fell to Avalon in the last round of the Fleurs Trophy, The grade splits into two divisions for the second round and our side will be one of the strongest in division two.
