Nick Passi wins 'Marist Man' award
Premier captain Nick Passi was honoured with a 'Marist Man' award following NZ Marist's 15-14 win over the Heartland XV at Pukekohe on 15 October.
The award goes to players who have had 100 or more premier games for their Marist clubs and represented NZ Marist. Nick, shown warming up in the right of the photo, was a last-minute call-up following a late injury to Sikeli Nabou from Ardmore Marist.
He captained NZ Marist last year, and joined the original selection Arden David-Perrot (bottom right, in photo below) as one of two MSP players in the side. By all accounts both had excellent games.
Four other 'Marist Man' honours were also presented: to Philip Beveridge from White Star in Westport, who had just completed his 21st season of senior club rugby; Tony Penn, from Tukapa in New Plymouth, who captained this year's team; Dan Dwyer from Ashburton Celtic; and Scott Uren from North Harbour Marist.
It was the third consecutive year that NZ Marist have won this clash. The team was coached by Daryl Suasua, with Brendan Reidy as his assistant.
Two MSP juniors also had a good day representing the North Island Marist under-13s.
