Our Premiers have gone down to Old Boys-University on full time in a thrilling Swindale Shield match.
Leading by five points for the final ten minutes, and after leading for much of the match, our Premiers will be feeling the sting of 'one that got away' as OBU scored a converted try on the final play of the game to take the match.
Despite the tough loss, the team should take heart from one of their best performances of the season against an OBU side that has only lost one game. With the Jubilee Cup playoffs just two weeks away, there were plenty of positives to take out of the game - including a dominant scrum and controlling long periods of possession.
Earlier on Evans Bay, the Colts lead by double digits with 20 minutes to play before falling to OBU by 30-45. Over the road, the Premier Reserves had a big loss to the grade leaders by 24-73.
Also on Kilbirnie Park, the Under 85s had a very narrow loss to Johnsonville by 31-34.
On the other side of town at Ian Galloway Park, the Internationals continued their dominant form with a 50-0 win over Wests who were in second place in the grade. Out in Stokes Valley, the Presidents went down by 5-49.
On the Netball courts, both sides had comfortable wins: Netball 1 beat Kia Ora 4 by 37-21 and Netball 2 beat Kia Ora 8 by 26-15.
