Meet our new Game Development Officer, Li'i Alaimoana
In our November update we shared the appointment of Li'i Alaimoana as our new Game Development Officer. This is a part-time role focused on making a contribution to college, schools, junior and wider community rugby programmes.
While Li'i is a familiar face to many around the club, we wanted to better introduce him to all of our club community.
Tell us a bit about yourself?
I was born and raised in Wellington, of Samoan heritage. I was educated in Wellington Catholic schools starting with St. Anne's Primary School in Newtown then going to college at St. Patrick's College. I am passionate about rugby, the creative arts and being a loving father.
What is your connection to Marist St Pats
I started learning and playing junior rugby at Marist St Pats and there's a strong connection at the club through my extended family and close friends.
Can you give a brief run down of your other rugby experiences?
I spent time in the South Island and Taranaki playing rugby, but saw coaching a better fit for what I could offer the game.
I started coaching in 2010 at College level with Paraparaumu College alongside Trevor Mason, before playing and coaching in Canada for a time. My last head coaching role was with the St Patrick's College Under 15A team in 2018.
What do you enjoy doing away from rugby?
Spending time with my wife and children, my parents and family. Outside of that it's being creative in any way, whether it's through art, music, writing, and Stand Up comedy.
What are you most looking forward to achieving at MSP in 2022?
Bringing everyone together is the ultimate goal. Making sure every part of the club knows they are crucial to the club's plans moving forward. Everything I'm looking forward to achieving at the club revolves around everyone coming together... so I guess bringing everyone together is what I'm looking forward to achieving the most.
