Welcome to MSP's first 'in season' newsletter of the 2013 season. Matches are well underway and the first few rounds have produced some thrillers across the grades. This is your latest news from around the club...

Senior rugby on ANZAC Day

There is a round of senior rugby on ANZAC Day with the Premiers playing Hutt Old Boys Marist in a clash that squares our defending Jubilee Cup champions against the Swindale Shield winners of 2012. Due to this midweek round there will be games played on Saturday 27 and Sunday 28 April, the clubrooms will be open on both those days... >>>


Past Players and Supporters Day on 4 May

Marist St Pats welcomes all past players and supporters to the MSP Gymnasium at Evans Bay Park for Past Players and Supporters Day (affectionately known to many as Old Timers Day) on Saturday 4 May. Lunch will be served and stories of the glory days will be told. We hope to see you there! >>>


New club chaplain announced

We are very pleased to announce that Fr Barry Scannell will be Marist St Pats' new club chaplain in 2013. We thank Fr Brian O'Connell who is retiring from the position... >>>


Under 85kg master is back in search of a fourth consecutive title

Under 85kg coaching legend Andrew Robinson is back to guide the Under 85kg Blues again this season. The three time defending champions will face competition in Division One from the MSP Reds who they beat in last years semi final... >>>


Ricoh players join the senior programme

For the second consecutive year Marist St Pats welcomes players from the Japanese club Ricoh... >>>


Beat the Budgie is back!

The very popular Beat the Budgie draw is back with an even bigger reason to be at the clubrooms on a Saturday night! Thanks to life member Paul 'Budgie' Jacobsen, each weekend at the clubrooms every financial club member will be in the draw to win a minimum $500 cash prize. You must have paid your subs and be at the club to claim the prize should your name be drawn! First draw 4 May... >>>


Around the traps

Marist St Pats wants to encourage youngsters to get involved with the game we all love. Our junior club is offering free subs to all new junior players this season... Congratulations to John-Paul and Jana Tocker who have recently celebrated the birth of their first son Harrison... MSP's YouTube video channel continues to be a big hit featuring highlights of every Premier game, we've had over 4000 views since the new season kicked off on 1 April... The Grand Steakhouse and Bar is continuing its generous support of Marist St Pats by sponsoring the weekly Player of the Day awards, each weekend the winners will go in the draw for a $100 food and beverage voucher at The Grand - but you have to be at the club to be in the draw!...

Did you know?

On ANZAC Day 2009 the eventual Jubilee Cup winning Premiers beat Wainuiomata 88-3 with centre Mike Kingsbeer scoring six tries!
