Dear
Welcome to the latest Marist St Pat's newsletter....
The annual prizegiving is a highlight of MSP's calendar, for supporters as well as players. Illustrious players honoured over the years include MSP's 2008 Sportsman of the Year, Victor Vito, who is back in the All Blacks for the World Cup. Who will it be this year? Find out on Friday, 2 September >>>
Be sure to invite overseas visitors to our clubrooms during the World Cup. MSP is hosting a special World Cup dinner on Friday 7 October, for members as well as overseas supporters. In addition, from 10 September the clubrooms will be open every Saturday during pool play >>>
Just MSP's under-85 Blues are left standing as the club season winds down. The Blues play the last club game of the year in the division one final against Poneke at Evans Bay this Saturday, 27 August. Eight MSP teams made it to finals this season >>>
Yet another concussion has forced the retirement of premier halfback Anthony Bradshaw, who's spent a decade playing top rugby for the club >>>
MSP's sevens teams are open to all comers this year, with training now on and a busy schedule of games for September and October. Sevens rugby is a great way to maintain skills and fitness and all players, including colts and under-85s, are invited to take part >>>
Just 40 years after the Evans Bay gym was built, the gravel parking area has at last been tarsealed. It even has painted carparks, and looks very smart... Many thanks to Tony O'Brien from the Pines for providing the food on Thursdays after trainings. On cold mid-winter nights, Tony's dinners, sold for a gold coin each, were eagerly devoured by the players.
