Whitireia journalism student and MSP Under 85kg Greens stalwart Josh Price has caught up with the coaches ahead of the 2014 season.
The Blues coach Andrew Robinson says the team’s goal for 2014 is to simply play a good style of rugby. “The Blues main challenge is just to consistently play to the high standards we set as a group, regardless of who we are playing against,” says Andrew.
The Blues are going for a 5th straight Paul Potiki Shield and 6th straight JC Bowl trophy (first round victory). To do this Andrew says he just wants the team to play with discipline, show great skills while scoring tries and take pride in their defence.
“Off the field the Blues have always had a great time especially with a number of big events during the season which will no doubt continue,” Andrew says.
“The Blues have a large number of star players with a big portion of the team having been selected to the Wellington Centurions rep side the last two years so it is hard to single out one player.”
“Tawa were the only side to get close to us last year, though this was the first season they had done so.”
“I don’t think the Blues are any different to any other team in the club. We all play for the love of the game, enjoy the camaraderie with our mates, and work hard while representing our club as best we can.”
