MSP primary school reps help southerners to win

Winning juniors for the NZ Marist southern region, Mellenniumma Leota and Naitao Ah Kuoi, and assistant coach Ken Ah Kuoi.

Two MSP juniors helped the Marist primary school reps from the southern region topple their northern counterparts in a match organised by New Zealand Marist early in November.

Naitoa Ah Kuoi and Mellenniumma Leota were picked for the NZ Marist southern region under-13s, and both scored tries in their team's 36-31 win over the northerners in Auckland.

Last year, the northern team hammered the southerners, so this year the two Wellington juniors plus one each from Hutt Old Boys Marist and Wairarapa Marist were put in the southern team to even things up.

The move worked, with Naitoa's dad Ken Ah Kuoi, who travelled to Auckland as assistant coach for the southern side, reporting it was 'an excellent game that was fun to watch'.

Ken is a former MSP club secretary who now chairs the Wellington Samoan Rugby Union. He's seen in the photo in his 'Village Kings' top worn by the Wellington Samoan team.
