Marist St Pats is pleased to confirm that our Premier coaches will return for the 2022 season. Head coach Zak Feaunati will again be joined by Lua Lokotui and Fa'atonu Fili as the trio look to build on the solid foundations laid.
The trio of former internationals led the Premier side to second place in the Swindale Shield (although tied for top competition points) and were runners up in the Jubilee Cup Final. Their 2021 record of 13 wins and three losses saw them lead the Premier competition in overall wins on the season. Rounding out the Premier management team are Mike 'Venus' Tolova'a as Technical Advisor and Manager, and Tinkah Tolova'a as Assistant Manager.
We are also pleased to confirm the return of our Colts coaches Justin Gray and Matt Christie; they will be joined in the coaching team by new head coach Li'i Alaimoana. The Colts also have a lot to be excited about with last years squad being largely made up of players in their first season out of high school, they will have experience to draw on for 2022.
With consistency a theme, Ryan Setefano will return for his seventh season as head coach of our Premier Women's team; assistant coaches to be confirmed. Anyone following this team knows the developmental strides they have taken over the past few years, with six of our players representing Wellington in 2021. The team is looking for a new manager, please reach out if you're interested in being involved.
The team that will have new coaches at the helm are the Premier Reserves. Former Jubilee Cup winner Saina Mikaio will be joined by Chris Collins as defence and attack coaches respectively. Julius To'o will also act as a technical adviser for the team.
Other grades coaches will be confirmed in the new year.
There is a one off pre-season training on Wednesday 8 December at 6pm at Evans Bay Park, followed by a BBQ. New and returning players are encouraged to join us along with coaches and management from all teams.
We are still looking for coaches for our Premier Reserve grade. Reach out to Club Captain Mike Renouf on 027 5652677 if you are interested in being involved.
