Our Premiers have dropped their second game of the Swindale Shield after a close 22-24 loss to Hutt Old Boys Marist at Hutt Rec today. They now hold a six win, two loss record.
Despite enjoying early territory and possession our boys found themselves down 10-14 at half time. A lopsided penalty count against them meant they found it difficult to find momentum. HOBM scored two tries (including an intercept try to Chase Tiatia) and the Red Machine only narrowed the gap with a try on half time.
A more disciplined second half helped the visiting side work their way back into the game but HOBM took their opportunities and held the edge on the scoreboard the entire way. Our players never relented and fought hard to the final whistle with sustained attack in the final 10 minutes resulting in closing the gap to just two points..
Earlier our Premier Women fought extremely hard against perrenial contenders Northern United and held a half time lead before being outscored in the second half to lose 24-41.
Our Premier Reserves won their seventh game in a row with a come-from-behind win over HOBM.
