Wellington Rugby has announced that only Premier Men's and Women's rugby will go ahead under Level 2 Covid-19 restrictions on 15 August - all other grades are cancelled (full release below).
Given restrictions will limit 100 people to the ground, the matches will be played with no spectators. This means at Evans Bay Park, the only people that will be allowed on the ground are approved players, coaches, match officials and game day support personnel.
To enable supporters to follow the match live, JP Tocker will be livestreaming on our Facebook page. We kindly ask all supporters to stay away from the ground and encourage you to follow the game online.
The clubrooms will open at 3pm for any supporters who would like to watch the livestream together, but with controls in place to meet the Level 2 restrictions - including limiting attendance to 100 people. If you are unwell, please stay home.
The decisions made by WRFU haven't been made lightly but given we haven't had experience of Rugby in Level Two we want to ensure we get it right this week before returning to all grades next Saturday.
Grades taking place with alterations to fixtures (see more):
Grades postponed this weekend:
No decision will be made on the status of these postponed games until next week.
All Matches Spectator Free
To give our participants the safest environment possible we are asking for all matches to be played spectator free.
100 People Bubbles
To achieve 100 participant bubbles each Club will be permitted to bring 45 people to their games this weekend. Key Club contacts have been asked to provide a list of their 45 by 9am tomorrow morning as part of their Event Plan (NZR requirement) for signoff.
The other 10 people will be reserved for match officials and WRFU representatives.
More detailed information for tomorrow will follow later this evening. In the meantime please share the message within your networks about the grades playing and alterations. One of our Community Team will be in touch with each club shortly (if not already) to answer any initial questions you may have.
On behalf of WRFU we sincerely thank you all for your patience and in advance for your co-operation.
All the best for the matches this weekend.
