Three advance to finals after wet semi finals

Our Premiers, Premier Reserves and Premier Women will all play in their grade finals next Saturday after semi final wins this weekend. The Colts also played a semi final against HOBM but fell 17-34. We acknowledge the Colts on a strong season and look forward to seeing them back next year.

The Premier Women celebrated Georgia Broughton's 50th game with a win by the tightest of margins over Hutt Old Boys Marist, 32-31.

The Premier Reserves had a contrasting match against Wellington, breezing home 64-0 to remain unbeaten in 2019.

The Premiers had more of an arm wrestle with Wellington albeit leading wire to wire. The scoring was opened after seven minutes after James Tuiatua scored from a push over try. From there the rest of the first half remained tight, with the home side taking a 14-3 lead at half time.

Periods of stoic defense held some strong Wellington attack out with a 48th minute blinder pulling the Red Machine away, video below. After Ken Kapeli stole the ball defending our own goal line, outstanding play by Rez Tasele and Billy Proctor saw the ball surge upfield before loose forward Josh To'omaga chipped the ball ahead for Willie Schutz to finish. A further two tries saw the final score 34-3.

Elsewhere the Under 85s tied 34-34 with OBU and will play a semi final next Saturday.
