While it was another tough result for our Premiers on Saturday, our Premier Reserves and Colts remain unbeaten this season.
The Colts went out to Porirua to take on a strong Northern United side but came away with a convincing win 36-19 win. They've won their first three games and will take on also unbeaten Tawa next week. Video from Club Rugby below.
The Premier Reserves also continued their winning ways with a hard fought win over Old Boys-University at Nairnville Park. With the game close midway through the second half, the side knuckled down with some great defence to win 37-23. Of note, in the last 20 minutes the team fielded Fa'atonu Fili, Daniel Kauraka and JP Tocker in the midfield - who boast over 400 Premier caps between them. Great commitment to the club from these gentlemen!
In the Swindale Shield match it was again a case of close, but no cigar for the Premiers. Despite controlling much of the first half play they found themselves behind 0-3 at half time.
They then went off the boil for 20 minutes conceding two tries to trail 0-15. They weren't about to roll over though and battled back to 10-15 with a few minutes to play. After a number of phases on attack they lost the ball in a ruck and were left again to wonder what might have been.
As was noted after the game, the team has been in the running in every match they've played and in losses have gone down by an average of three points. This is a side stacked with young talent and they will be learning a lot from the experience they're gaining - when it all comes together, this team will be very exciting.
