Representative rugby underway

With the final few grades of club rugby wrapping up, the Representative teams got underway this past weekend with a number of Marist St Pats players in action. A quick round the traps...

Naitoa Ah Kuoi made his Wellington Lions debut, joined by Billy Proctor, in their Mitre 10 Cup opener against Tasman Mako in Blenheim. It was a baptism of fire as the Lions fell heavily 8-45. Former Marist St Pats players Donald Brighouse and Cardiff Vaega are playing for Taranaki and Counties Manukau respectively.

In other local representative teams, Tietie Tuimauga, Josh To'omaga and James Tuiatua played for the Wellington Development side in their 29-21 win over Wairarapa Bush. The Wellington Samoans featured Fa'atonu Fili, Isaia Petelo, Rez Tasele and Ken Kapeli in a loss to Wellington Maori.

Colts captain Sam Baylis (pictured below) is on tour with the New Zealand Marist Colts this week as they travel the east coast of the North Island with games against Poverty Bay Development, Hastings RS-Napier OBM selection and Hawkes Bay Saracens.
