A unique opportunity is available to host the families of British and Irish Lions players. See the below message from Trudi Gatland:
I am Trudi Gatland and the wife of the current British and Irish Lions coach, Warren Gatland
Once the Lions squad was announced back in April I sent an email to the players offering their families the option of staying in New Zealand homes during the tour as the accommodation options were limited and very expensive.
The families of the players are now contacting me with their travel plans and are so appreciative of this offer as they have been struggling to find anything at all in Auckland or Wellington.
Most of them seem to be coming out just for the last three weeks of the tour so I am currently matching them to the generous hosts we have in Auckland for 2 or 3 nights around the 1st and 3rd tests and need hosts for Wellington for 4 or 5 nights with the Hurricanes game and 2nd test being held there. If there is anything you can do during the week of Monday 26 June to Sunday 2nd July it would be amazing. I have contacts in the Wairarapa which might fill some nights between the Hurricanes and 2nd test as well.
If you are prepared to take people into your homes at no cost then it would be wonderful. The experience our Waikato hosts had back in 2011, with Welsh supporters over for the World Cup, was amazing and the Welsh still talk about the fantastic Kiwi hospitality shown to them.
What I need at this stage is your name, email address, mobile phone number, address of your home and what accommodation you can offer (eg queen, singles etc) so that I can match a Lions family member to you for a couple of nights.
Thanks so much for your consideration of this request.
Kind regards
Trudi Gatland
