Our Women's Sevens team has continued their rich vein of form winning their second tournament in as many weeks - this time at the National 7s Tournament held in Wainuiomata.
Coming off a great weekend at the NZ Marist 7s, the side dispatched Wainui 21-12 then Tauranga Sports 40-0 in pool play. With only the three teams entered the final was a rematch against the home side. After scoring almost immediately from the kick off they jumped to a 19-5 lead at half time powering home to win 31-12.
On the men's side of the draw a win and a loss on day one set up a quarterfinal with Hamilton 7s champions Melville on day two. With a few players missing from the side that won the NZ Marist 7s last week, the Mooloo side proved too strong taking the game 31-5. Melville went on to win the championship.
This put the team into the Plate side of the draw where they eventually fell to Auckland's Suburbs 20-21; a missed conversion on full time would have won the game but it wasn't meant to be.
This concludes the major tournaments for the summer which can be concluded as a success with both the Men's and Women's sides claiming two major tournament wins.
