After a hiatus in recent years the first round has been a real journey for our Women's side with plenty of learning.
The team have done themselves proud competing with some experienced sides and will compete hard as the grade splits into two divisions for the second round. This was evidenced by their 73-0 win over Upper Hutt Rams on the weekend.
Co-coach Ryan Setefano provides an update on the team's progress:
'Our squad was hit with heaps of injuries early on and went through some testing times that could of dented most teams but the girls have remained upbeat and continue to train and take each week as it comes.
The challenge for most of the first round was to keep a healthy squad. Our manager Agnes Va'aua has been the back bone for this team and a lot of credit goes to her with her work in behind the scenes.
We've learned many valuable lessons just from that first round alone. There's a great bunch of girls this year in our squad to build on and become a great team on and off the field. Women's rugby around Wellington is strong and in good health!
For the second round in the senior trophy (Division Two) we want to build and continue to grow closer and not leave anything to chance; we want to be competitive each week and smash our goals together.'
