In another boost to our ever-growing sports hub, the Wellington City Council has chosen Evans Bay Park for a trial of a new variety of grass.
The expectation is that the new 'couch grass' will withstand much higher levels of use and increase the usability of the park throughout the year. In preparation for the new grass, the council has leveled the surface and installed new drainage which will further improve the quality of the field. Work well and truly begun and the council anticipates the field will be ready for sport usage in April 2014.
This upgrade adds yet another positive aspect of the facilities at the 'Home of the Red Machine' following the construction of the Artificial Turf earlier this year.
