Premier Women's coaches named

After a year on hiatus, Marist St Pats has been determined to return to Premier Women’s rugby after our historic championship season in 2023. We are thrilled to share that we have assembled a great team to lead the resurgence.

Fa’atiga ‘Tinkah’ Tolova’a will lead the charge as Head Coach. Tinkah is passionate about Women’s rugby, having been involved at St Mary’s College, in the U15 and 1XV coaching team in recent years. He also has experience coaching at Premier Men, Premier Reserve and Colts level at Marist St Pats.

Tinkah describes his coaching style as ‘believing in creating a positive and inclusive environment where every player feels valued and motivated to reach their full potential. As a father with two daughters, empowering young women in sports is a particular passion of mine, and I strive to inspire and support female athletes to excel and enjoy the game.’

Along with our confirmed coaching team, our Premier Women’s team is set to rejoin the grade strongly with confirmation of the core of the 2023 championship team committed to returning. Those confirmed to pull back on the red jersey include a cohort of players who have played 50 Premier Women’s games for Marist St Pats: Emele-Moa Makisi, Paige Va'auli and 2023 Wellington Pride representatives Petrina Foaese and Jaydah Timu.

Our Women’s Sevens team is already training on Monday nights for any players keen to get involved. All new and returning Women’s players are encouraged to join us for offseason training which will start in early November.
