Jason Adamson to lead Premier Men's coaching team

Marist St Pats is excited to announce our Premier Men’s coaching team for the 2025 season.

We are thrilled to welcome Jason Adamson as our new Head Coach, he will be joined in his coaching team by Brendan Reidy and Nick Focas. All coaches at Marist St Pats will continue to be supported by our Director of Rugby, Sean Horan.

Jason (pictured) has over 20 years coaching experience in Wellington, most recently as the Head Coach for Johnsonville for the past four years. He led the Hawks to second place in the 2023 Swindale Shield, their highest placing in 25 years. Before taking up the coaches clipboard, Jason enjoyed a long career as a hooker in Wellington Premier rugby and represented Manu Samoa in 1998.

After a rigorous selection process our Rugby Sub Committee, led by Sean, valued Jason’s experience as a Premier Head Coach as a key attribute that secured him the position.

‘His last four years with Johnsonville leading a rebuild towards a highly competitive team/club were impressive and he brings key learnings from that time. But it was his overarching philosophy of the “ONE CLUB” that really impressed the panel.’

Jason is excited by the prospect of coaching at Marist St Pats with his own values and vision aligning closely to those held by the club.

‘I’ve enjoyed the conversations I’ve had with Sean and Lourdaiz and I’m really encouraged by the vision they have for Marist St Pats. I love the opportunity we have to grow people on and off the field and give people opportunities to contribute.’

‘Marist St Pats has a proud history and I’m energised by the challenge to continue the legacy being built by so many people at the club.

The 2025 Premier Men’s coaching team will also feature a number of familiar faces with former Premier Head Coach and Samoan International Brendan Reidy formally rejoining the coaching team. Nick Focas returns for another season supporting our players with their on and off field preparations.

Jason and the coaching team share the Marist St Pats philosophy of building our talent, culture and community across all grades. They are looking forward to getting to work with our players and welcoming new players to Marist St Pats.

Keep an eye on our social media pages for details on a connection event for all grades on October and details on our offseason training programme which will kick off in November.

Coaching announcements for more grades will be made over the coming weeks.
