From the pen of Marist St Pats President, John Spillane...
Last Friday, amidst the whirlwind of November sports, the Red Machine hosted a “connections evening” at our clubrooms, bringing together new players and their families as we gear up for the 2025 season!
With around 150 attendees, the night was buzzing with energy.
Our new prospects had the chance to hear from and meet club legends Iain Potter and Victor Vito, who shared the true essence of the Red Machine.
We also introduced our new premier coach, Jason Adamson, who captivated the room with his vision for 2025 season.
Despite a minor hiccup (thanks, WCC, for the no water situation!), the evening was a resounding success.
Fresh faces from many colleges (both local and from outside the region) with already impressive rugby CV’s, mingled with our seasoned players, and there was an overwhelming feeling that everyone has brought into Marist St Pat’s journey back to the top of Wellington Club Rugby.
What stood out to me was the endorsements from players who enjoyed the 2024 season. It is clear that many have been actively recruiting and encouraging their peers to join our ranks. Their passion for MSP is infectious, and it's clear: 2025 is all about rugby!
With the “Matt Calvert BBQ” sizzling away on the deck, everyone left with a full tummy and a renewed sense of purpose and excitement about the Red Machine – I even had a couple of “old timers” tell me that they felt like dusting their boots off after listening to Potsie, Victor and Jason speak.
Be assured, we're committed to maintaining our high standards both on and off the field, and we can’t wait to see what the future holds.
Mark your calendars for the AGM on the 28th! Let’s keep the momentum going!
Let’s make 2025 all about rugby!
