As winter officially passes, and Club rugby winds down for the 2024 season, the work begins to get things in order for next season.

Lourdaiz generously gave the committee last weekend off (a brief break after the successful prizegiving on Friday evening), but he is back calling the shots on Monday as we all start to focus on the 2025 season – which will be here before we know it.

MSP’s success in years gone by can largely be attributed to the work that has been done in the off season – so for many at MSP this is a busy time.

As we put the 2024 season to bed we are focusing on two priority areas, being:

1: Protect our core

That is to ensure that we retain every player, coach, manager, committee member, supporter and club affiliate.

I appreciate that some of our overseas players have returned to their homelands or continued their travels – but we need as many of the wonderful group that made this year such an enjoyable year back in 2025.

2: Recruit to grow the Club

We need you ALL to become recruiters for the Club – we were light on numbers in pretty much all grades this year, and we need more depth across all of the teams in 2025 if we are to be a truly strong Club.

YOU are the Red Machine's best recruiters and we need you all to drag your mates over from other Clubs or off the couch and out of retirement or in from other countries.

Bring your little brothers and sisters, and your big brothers and sisters – bring your mates and their mates and your neighbours and workmates and their brothers and sisters and cousins and their mates and neighbours.

Bring them ALL to MSP in 2025 and tell them that...

  • They will be welcomed warmly and treated with respect
  • They will receive great coaching and support
  • Their ability and effort will speak for itself, and
  • We want them in 2025.

Your Club needs you all to step up as recruiters and let’s make 2025 another transformational year for the Red Machine.
