The third annual Marist St Pats Golf Day was played on Friday 15th March at Shandon Golf Club.
It was a good sized field of about 88 players who turned up to enjoy the day and the weather gods were kind to us. The greens were quick and true, which meant a number of good scores would be coming in and that it would be fiercely competitive.
It was great to see so many friendships reconnecting, stories being told, beers being drunk, and laughs shared. The Marist spirit is truly alive and well!
Ken Ah Kuoi and MaryAnn Spillane once again did a grand job organising the tournament. Thanks also to Liz Potter, Lourdaiz Ah Chong, Sean Horan, Fred Lefaoseu and Porky for all their work on the day, running the registrations, raffles, auction and for doing the drinks cart.
The club is extremely grateful to Mike Botherway and Higgins Concrete who supplied the BBQ.
We also had a number of hole sponsors, so special thanks to Willis Bond, L.T. McGuinness, Mahony Horner Lawyers, Liz Potter - Tommy’s Real Estate, SWP Commercial, Higgins Concrete, Wedgelock Equipment, SAS Sports, Monitor New Zealand, DRE Systems, Liquorland Miramar and Pak’N’Save Kilbirnie.
There were some great auction items, so thanks to Billy Proctor for the signed Hurricanes jersey, Naitoa Ah Kuoi for the signed Chiefs jersey, Paraparumu Golf Club and Miramar Golf Club for the vouchers, Shane Evans for the West Plaza Hotel voucher, Boulcott Street Bistro for the voucher and Jon McNab for the case Fairmont Estate Block One Pinot Noir.
Thanks again to Bondy and the team at Shandon Golf Club for an enjoyable day.
All funds raised support Marist St Pats rugby initiatives across the junior and senior club.
