Reunion of early 70s' MSP teams planned
Members of MSP teams coached by life member Paul 'Budgie' Jacobsen are planning a reunion in 2013, so please pass the word on to any past players and coaches involved with the sides.
Budgie was the coach of three MSP teams from 1971 to 1973, the highlight coming in 1973 when his 2nd grade 1st division side, captained by Brian McGuinness and pictured below, won the Thompson Memorial Cup.
Marist St Pats had just been formed and it was only the second team from the newly-amalgamated club to win a grade, the first being Tony Collins' colts the year before.
The idea for the reunion came from Andrew 'Seagull' Cumming (middle row, third left), who now lives in Hamilton. He got in touch with Budgie and suggested a get-together to re-live the glory days. Budgie (seated front right) is now on the hunt for players from that era.
