Premiers beat neighbours Poneke in a close battle

The hearts of the Marist faithful were given a working over this afternoon in a close match against Poneke. The first half was a literally slugfest with JP Tocker receiving a shiner on his 150th game, Poneke's continued ill discipline cost them three yellow cards before the teams broke for oranges. However despite enjoying a territorial advantage MSP led by only 3-0. The second half opened up with both teams running in tries within the first 20 minutes. Some strong periods of play gave MSP a healthy 27-12 lead with 10 minutes to go and it looked like the team would win happily, but two late tries to Poneke evened up the scoreline.
