Premiers knock off Poneke for the second time this season

The Jubilee Cup campaign was kickstarted and 'The Battle of Kilbirnie' was emphatically won as the Premiers beat Poneke 23-6 this weekend. The game was played in a howling southerly but on the pristine artificial turf at St Patrick's College.

MSP played the smarter rugby, rolling up the park through the forwards who were directed masterfully by captain Peter Sciascia. Hooker Sefo Setefano dotted down twice in the first five mins and Poneke were on the back foot from there.

Playing for field position most of the second half, standout flanker Isaac O'Connor scored a bonus point try with a few minutes to go.
