MSP are runners up in the NZ Marist Spillane Cup in New Plymouth after going down to Hutt Old Boys Marist in the final by 20-7 on Sunday 11 March.

Captain Arden David and hooker Liu Taituave were rewarded for fine tournaments with selection to the tournament team, while halfback Paul Tuia also enjoyed a strong weekend. There was a high injury toll, however, with veteran prop Jamie Parkinson snapping an achilles tendon which will see him in plaster for at least six weeks.

The premiers made the final after drawing 19-19 with Auckland Marist on Saturday, but went through by having scored three tries to one.

In the Moran Cup section, MSP's colts were outgunned 22-63 by eventual winners Auckland Marist colts, but bounced back to knock over Hamilton Marist colts 66-0. The NZ Marist site has the full tournament results.
