Premiers finish Swindale Shield with convincing win

Our Premiers have finished the Swindale Shield strongly with a 45-32 victory over Upper Hutt Rams at Evans Bay. Three consecutive bonus point wins put them into second place on the final competition standings, just three points shy of winners Hutt Old Boys Marist.

This final game was another where smart first half rugby built a platform for a solid win. First half tries to debutant Jake Goodger, Josh To'omaga and Filipo Alefosio meant the Red Machine took a 25-10 into the break for oranges.

After an early try in the second stanza, coaches Bond and Reidy made use of their very experienced bench which included Julian Tupai and Andrew Wells return from injuries.

The Jubilee Cup starts next week, keep an eye out on our website this week for the draw...
