Premiers fall to in form Wainui

In front of a bumper crowd on a stunning day at William Jones Park our Premiers have fallen in their semi final losing 13-26 to Wainuiomata.

After the sides traded tries in the opening stanza, Wainui held a 13-10 lead as the teams broke for oranges. At this stage there was nothing in it and you got the feeling the first team to strike in the second half would take the game. This proved true.

Wainui continued to successfully starve MSP of possession and territory and patiently waited to take their opportunity, crossing the line midway through the second half.

A 10 point lead proved too much to conquer and a drop goal late in the game sealed Wainui's place in the Jubilee Cup final.

Despite the disappointment of this loss, our side can be proud of their achievements this year by making the semi finals and winning the Swindale Shield in the first round!
