MSP pair take top coaching awards

Two Marist St Pats coaches took out top honours at the annual Wellington Rugby Awards held last night at Te Papa. Under 85kg Blues coach Andrew Robinson won the Club Coach of the Year, while Clayton McMillan was named Representative Coach of the Year after his unbeaten campaign with the Wellington Under 19 team.

Coming off another stellar season in which his team did not lose a game, Andrew was finally recognised at the Wellington awards. His Under 85kg Blues team have been the most consistent side in Wellington club rugby for a number of years, winning an unprecedented four consecutive JC Bowl and five Paul Potiki Shield titles. Andrew was accompanied by a number of his players who vocally showed their approval when he was named the winner.

2012 Jubilee Cup winning coach Clayton McMillan mentored the newly created Wellington Under 19 representative team. After five months of preparing his squad, the team went unbeaten and were crowned champions in the inaugural Under 19 National Tournament beating Canterbury 32-21. Clayton has again showed what a quality coach he is and looks destined to coach at higher levels.

Marist St Pats would like to congratulate Andrew and Clayton on receiving these honours and thank them for their ongoing contribution to our club.
