Former chaplain passes away
The Club has been saddened to learn of the peaceful passing of Father Brian O'Connell SM yesterday afternoon at the Home of Compassion in Silverstream.
Father Brian followed in the footsteps of his great friend former chaplain, the late Father Geoff Broad and became MSP's chaplain in 2012.
Father Brian was a regular spectator on the rugby sidelines at MSP matches throughout Wellington's suburban grounds but particularly at the Evans Bay sports hub.
MSP extends our prayers and sympathy to Father Brian's family and to his confreres of the Society of Mary.
A Vigil will be held at 7pm on Thursday 16 February at Home of Compassion Chapel, Silverstream. Father Brian's Requiem Mass will be at 11am on Friday 17 January at the Cathedral of the Sacred Heart, Hill Street, Wellington.
