Blues to contest for 5th consecutive title
The Marist St Pats Under 85kg Blues have been the powerhouse of the lightweight grade for over half a decade, that reputation continued today after beating Waikanae in their division one semi final match.
Leading by just 10-7 at half time, the boys stormed home in the second half to record a 32-7 win and book their spot in next weekend's final.
After winning their sixth consecutive JC Bowl for winning the first round, the Blues now have the opportunity to claim their fifth straight Paul Potiki Shield title, the second round prize.
Their opponents will be the Tawa Titans (last years runner up) after they beat Poneke in their semi final.
Final: Marist St Pats Blues vs Tawa. 2.30pm at Evans Bay Park on 30 August.
Reds win extra time thriller to book spot in final
In their division two semi final the Marist St Pats Under 85kg Reds beat Stokes Valley 9-3 in extra time at Delaney Park!
The two sides couldn't be separated at the end of 80 minutes with the scores locked at 3-3. Tim McBride kicked two cool penalties in the first half of extra time to seal the win for MSP!
Final: Marist St Pats Reds vs Wellington. 12.30pm at Evans Bay Park on 30 August.
