Top four finish at NZ Marist 7s

Our 7s team has fallen short in their quest to claim the coveted NZ Marist 7s title, losing 0-12 in their semi final against Marist North Harbour.

After splitting their two pool matches. the team finished day one having beaten Hastings Rugby and Sports 19-15 in the cup quarter final to book their spot in the top four on Saturday.

In a scrappy semi final played in brisk conditions on the artificial turf, North Harbour scored a try in either half. Despite some strong phases of general play, MSP couldn't get momentum going with a number of handing errors and penalties at the break down.

The club cup was won by Hamilton Marist beating North Harbour 34-12. Full results here.

Matt Peni streaks down the touchline to score MSP's first try in their 21-5 win over Greymouth in pool play.
