Marist St Pats doing more for amateur sport

Marist St Pats RFC is pleased to announce the establishment of the Marist St Pats - Shamrock Foundation.

The Foundation is a registered charitable trust. Amongst the charitable objectives of the Foundation will be the education of people in the benefits to health and well-being from participating in amateur sports and recreational activities.

The launch of the Foundation has also helped to provide St Patrick’s College, Wellington with a timely boost for its artificial turf property upgrade.

However, Foundation Chairman, Mr Bill Harrison said a number of capital development projects have been earmarked to upgrade the facilities at Evans Bay over the next five years.“The installation of the artificial turf will provide the cornerstone to kick-start a number of the projects, some of which will benefit the current sporting generation while others are focused on the future,” he said.

“We want to position the Evans Bay hub for the future by building on its proud history. We know sports men and women choose Marist St Pats because they are seeking something inherently different. And it is our job to ensure that the young men and women that do pass through our doors are given the opportunity to reach their full potential.”

‘Marist St Pats is renowned for its innovation whether it be in providing opportunities for the development of young people, in social activities or on the sporting field and for the way in which sports people conduct themselves in every day life.”

Mr Harrison said that future facility and property projects would be underpinned by the launch of the Marist St Pats - Shamrock Foundation, which is the vehicle to reconnect thousands of past players and supporters with the current Club and its proud traditions.

“That sense of belonging, of being part of the Red Machine family and Wellington’s most successful rugby club has been a constant since St Patrick's College was founded in 1885” commented Mr Harrison.
