St Pat's College coaches retain MSP flavour

St Patrick's College has confirmed their Premier coaching appointments for the 2014 season. The new coaching team has a very solid St. Patrick's RFC and Marist St. Pat's RFC background. The Appointments Panel are delighted to have coaches of their calibre and history forming our Premier Coaching Group for next season.

1XV: Glenn Donaldson and John Bishop

Glenn is a Marist St. Pat's "Centurion" (having played 100 plus Premier Games for the Club) and he's a former New Zealand Marist Colt (1983). He's coached rugby at St. Patrick's for many seasons, most recently as Assistant Coach of the 1XV in 2011 and 2012, while first being Assistant Coach of the 1XV in 1992.

John has also had a long and successful long-term involvement with rugby at the College, having been on the College Staff since 1991 when he coached the U15A team with Br. Matt Morris. This season, John coached the St. Patrick's College U55 team to the College Sport Division 1 Final.

Both Glenn and John have already coached the St. Patrick's College 1XV together (in 1995 and 1996), notably achieving the "Grand Slam" of winning all College Traditional Matches in 1996.

2XV: Willie Leota and Galu Letiu

Willie is a SPC Old-Boy, attending the College between 1991 and 1996. He was a member of the 1XV from 1994 to 1996 and he was selected for the Wellington Secondary Schools A team in each of these three years. Following his College days, Willie went on to build a successful record as a Provincial Union player, also trialing for the New Zealand Colts and Manu Samoa. He has also experienced a professional rugby career both as a player and coach, internationally.

Galu is also a SPC Old-Boy, attending the College between 1989 and 1993. In his last year of College he was a member of the Senior A basketball team, while also playing rugby. Galu was a Premier player for Marist St. Pat's during the early 2000's, noted for his mid-field combination with Joe Wright and he's been a Wellington Samoan rugby representative. Galu has also played semi-professionally in the U.K. for Bowden FC in Manchester. He is a fitness trainer and manages a running group, "Run For Your Life".
