Tui Awards reflect success across the club

MSP enjoyed a great night at the Wellington Rugby Union's Tui Awards on 30 October, scooping prizes for players, teams, coaches and volunteers.

The club's Jubilee Cup success was acknowledged with Clayton McMillian and Murray Tocker (right) winning the Club Coach of the Year Award, while the premiers were adjudged the Club Team of the Year.

And congratulations to life member MaryAnn Spillane (below), who won the Dominion Post WRFU Volunteer of the Year Award. MaryAnn has been MSP's treasurer for every year except one since 1996.

On the playing front, prop Jeff To'omaga Allen was crowned Wellington's rugby player of the year, ahead of some very well-performed Hurricanes and Wellington Lions players.

Prop Donald Brighouse won the Ken Comber Memorial Cup for the second year in a row, an award for the Wellington Rugby Academy member who best embraces the Academy philosophy.

Also among the finalists were the under-85 Blues and their coach, Andrew Robinson. The Blues never lost a game all year and for Andrew, it was the third consecutive year he's been in the hunt for the Coach of the Year Award.

Here's the WRFU media release on the event, headed 'Marist St Pats Big Winners at the Tui Awards'.
