'Bill' safe in MSP hands

'Bill', the William Webb Ellis Trophy, will be safe for the next four years with this guard of former MSP premiers to watch over it.

Pictured opposite at a NZRU function early in March are (from left): Tony Duffin (chairman WRFU board of directors), Mick Robbers (WRFU senior vice-president), John Wootton (immediate WRFU past president) and Paul Quinn (former NZRU director).

Tony, John and Paul each played over 100 premier games for MSP, while Mick captained the club's first premier side in 1971.

The NZRU hosted the function to thank the Mayor, councillors, the WRFU, life members, rugby ambassadors and Andy Leslie's rugby legacy programme for all their work during last year's successful RWC campaign.
