MSP sevens teams just miss out on kitchenware

MSP's two teams just missed out in the Plate and Bowl sections of the NZ Marist sevens held at Evans Bay on 3 and 4 February, with both going down narrowly in their section finals.

However, Issac O'Connor was rewarded for an excellent tournament with selection to the NZ Marist sevens team that will play in Fiji early in March.

The video clip above shows the A team's semi-final and final highlights. They had started day one with a 24-14 loss to a slick Ardmore Marist side from Counties, the eventual winners of the tournament. MSP A then went on to defeat Nelson Marist 19-14 and HOB Marist B 31-10.

On day two, a first-up loss to Marist Albion from Christchurch put them into the Plate section. After a good 28-12 win over Hastings, they went through to the final against Whangarei Marist. JP Tocker and Isaia Petelo scored but despite hammering away for the last few minutes, they couldn't score again and went down 14-12.

The B team had a tough first day, but on day two they defeated HOB Marist B 31-17, and in the Bowl final, put in a good performance before going down 33-24 to HOB Marist A.
