MSP premiers Ryan Setefano, Isaia Petalo and Mau Simeona joined NZ Marist's Tony Meachen on visits to Wellington primary schools on 11 May. The players were part of a NZ Marist initiative which has seen $3000 worth of sports gear given to support students across all sports.

The schools included St Anne's in Newtown, St Patrick's primary in Kilbirnie, St Bernards in Brooklyn, and Holy Cross in Miramar. NZ Marist, which represents 29 Marist-affilitated clubs throughout New Zealand, also has a role supporting primary schools and colleges. In addition to helping with sports equipment, NZ Marist last year initiated the inaugural North Island v South Island primary schools' game for under-13s selected from all over the country.

School visits are also part of the annual NZ Marist Colts tour, which is scheduled for August this year and will take in Gisborne, Wairoa, Napier and Hastings. The players talk to the students and also have a lot of fun giving out the sports equipment.
