Win and a loss at Spillane
It was a win and a loss for the premiers at the Spillane Cup tournament in Hamilton on 12-13 March, while the colts won both their matches to collect the Moran Cup.
In the 80th annual staging of the event, the premiers went down to local rivals Hutt Old Boys Marist 18-22 in their opening game on Saturday. However, on Sunday's play-off for third and fourth, they ran rampant against Hastings Marist to collect a 77-3 win.
HOB Marist went on to take the tournament with a 66-17 win over Napier in the final. However, Hastings Marist, as a result of their loss, will be demoted to division two next year, while Auckland Marist has been promoted to the Cup section.
MSP's colts recorded a solid first-up 27-7 win against North Harbour Marist. In Sunday's final, they came from 0-17 down against Auckland Marist to get home 20-17.
