JImmy Madden obituary

The club extends its sympathy to the family of Jimmy Madden who passed away in Wellington on 6 October, aged 74. Jimmy was the husband of MSP life member Agnes and together they ran the Regent Tavern when it sponsored the club during the 1990s. Jimmy and Agnes are pictured below when Agnes was awarded life membership in November last year .Jimmy and Agnes Madden

JImmy was honoured with an obituary in the Dominion Post on Saturday 15 October by Tim Donoghue, a DomPost journalist and former MSP club captain. In a fine piece of writing headed 'Publican a lively mix of wit, largesse and character', Tim wrote of Jimmy's Scots origins in Dundee, his support for the Glasgow Celtic soccer team, his early days in Wellington and his involvement with Marist St Pats through the Regent.

The Madden family have had a long association with the club over many years and our thoughts are with Agnes, Jimmy junior (the fourth in a line of five James Maddens) and Venice.
