Internationals worthy champions
The Internationals have completed the 2022 season unbeaten and are rightfully champions after beating Upper Hutt Rams J8s in the Alan Seerup Cup Final.
On a soggy Evans Bay Park, the game started in sunshine and was a tight affair. After controlling most of the opening exchanges and scoring an early penalty, their only try of the match was scored at the 25 minute mark. Captain Mike Bridges finished a break from Nathan Simpson to take a 10-0 lead.
The Rams scored right on half time to close the lead to 10-5. The teams traded penalties in the next 20 minutes before the rain set in. The home side won the arm wrestle in the rain and claimed the title.
Congratulations to the team on an outstanding season. 15 years on, Internationals rugby is still going strong!
