'Beat the Budgie' struck
Long-serving club member Dale Renouf was the lucky winner of the final 'Beat the Budgie' drawn last Sunday 12 August. A former club secretary, Dale collected the $1000 jackpot when his membership number was picked from the barrel.
Dale's number was the fourth drawn. Although the clubrooms were packed with members celebrating the Jubilee Cup win, the owners of the three numbers drawn earlier weren't on hand to collect the jackpot.
The club expresses its gratitude to life member Paul 'Budgie' Jacobsen and to Eugene Brennan of Brennan's Building Recyclers in Lyall Bay. The pair have sponsored the weekly draw which has proven a highly popular drawcard in attracting members to the clubrooms. Their generosity is appreciated.
Although 'Beat the Budgie' won't be drawn this Saturday 18 August, six MSP teams have games in the afternoon and the clubrooms will be open at the normal time.
